Australia Week 9 – James Hudson

Spring Break has finally come! A week in Cairns, Australia after finishing up our classes was awesome. We checked into the hostel, Gilligan’s and immediately went to the pool. The pool was unreal with a basketball court, pool volleyball, and a huge projector playing any sports game that were on.  The first activity we did on Spring break was go to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures. We saw loads of crocodiles, getting to take a boat around Australia’s biggest crocodile inclosure and even getting to watch a crocodile feeding which was unreal. We also got to see our second koala of the […]

Australia Week 8 – James Hudson

This week was our last week in Sydney. The time has gone by so fast and my friends and I have fallen in love with Sydney. The laid-back lifestyle, to the amazing weather, to the gorgeous beaches it is hard not to fall in love with this place. Everyone here is so kind and happy and there is always something to do. I love my routine in Sydney of going from class to the beach. The public transport has been so easy to get the hang of and has allowed travel around Sydney to be easy and efficient. If that […]

Singapore Week 2

Two weeks have now passed in Singapore and I feel like I am becoming much more used to the city. I love how clean and convenient it is to get around. Singapore is very safe which makes me feel comfortable walking around the city at all hours. I enjoy taking a walk around the vibrant Orchard Road at night as a way to decompress after a day of work. Hawker centers (pictured below) are where I love to get my food. I have one right across from my work where I go for lunch to get pork chops with rice […]

Singapore Week 1

Going to Singapore was a weird feeling. I was very sad to say goodbye to my girlfriend and Australia, but also ready to explore a new country. Singapore is much different than Australia with massive culture change. One of the main things I knew going into Singapore was its strict laws – hopefully I can stay out of trouble. We arrived into Singapore late at night and went straight to bed at the apartments we were provided by this program. The next morning we had a brief orientation followed by a group lunch. The rest of the day we had […]

Australia Week 7 – James Hudson

This week my friends and I went surfing at Manly Beach. Everytime we go to Manly I am still blown away by how gorgeous the ferry ride is. When we got to the beach we rented surf board and immediately hit the water. About 5 minutes in one of my friends had actually snapped his board in half and had to go back to the surfboard rental shop to get a new board. Luckily he wasn’t charged as the owners knew that the board was old when they gave it to him and gladly gave him a new one. Surfing […]

Josiah Kwok – Singapore Week 6

On Sunday, I decided to visit Changi Airport to explore the famed Jewel mall that included a garden and what was effectively an artificial indoor rainforest centered on a circular waterfall from the glass ceiling. It was quite an architectural marvel. I had booked a table at Jumbo Seafood Restaurant to try a tasting of the famed Singapore Chili Crab at 11:30 am. But since I was already there at 10 am, I decided to head up to the Canopy Garden on top. I purchased a ticket that also included the Canopy Bridge, a transparent glass bridge that offered stunning […]
