Harrison Week 5 Sydney

This week in Sydney was a new start because we had a new set of classes. The two classes that we were taking is Business law and Federal income tax both of the classes I was excited to take especially because on the the classes was being taught my Professor Alexander. In the first week I go a taste of both classes and really understood the basic of both classes. How to file you taxes was very interesting and a long process. I was a bit confused at the start however it made a lot of sense when going through […]

Harrison Week 4 – Sydney

This week in Sydney we had our final week of our first block of classes which meant most of the week I was studying for my financial decision modelling exam as well as write a 2000 word paper. A group of us decided to study in the library at UTS which was very different than studying in our rooms in Darling harbour. I wrote the paper in the first part of the week and the exam ended midday Friday. After the exam we booked a cruise around Sydney harbour with live music which was a lot of fun and nice […]

Singapore Week 5

Week 5 consisted of a great co-working experience for me and the other two GreenFi interns. One of the co-founders took us to the Marina Bay Sands golfing range in the morning to get to know each other better, talk about the work we have been doing, and the bright future and ambitions of the company. Our team of interns has progressed on key deliverables regarding the back end of our AI models. Discussing how what we are creating is going to help companies and individuals become more knowledgeable about ESG initiatives is a rewarding feeling! Also, as someone who […]

Singapore Week 3

During week three in Singapore, my friends and I continued to explore the city and see different things it has to offer. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I have been excited to try Singapore’s array of food options. The hawker centers provide a cheap and explorative menu that are worth experiencing! Some of the food that I was surprised to see on various menu’s was barbecue stingray, intestines of something, and then shark fin soup. I was actually very disappointed to see shark fin soup on the menu as it is extremely unethical and unsustainable to purposefully catch, kill, and eat […]

Week 7 in Auckland

Like last week, this week was fairly uneventful. In terms of internship work, I finished up all the FATCA work available to work on. I’ve also been going back and forth with a laptop supplier from HP discussing details about a new lease of about 400 laptops. I reviewed the terms that they were able to offer and read through the whole contract to double check everything and organize the details of all the costs that contribute to the total. I also attended a demo meeting for a software upgrade that the trust will be implementing across all their systems […]

Week 6 in Auckland

This week at work, I continued my work on the income commission policy. I met with the team overseeing the process, and interviewed a member of the retail department to gauge their involvement with products that are charged income commission in attempts to find out if the work they are doing with these services is fair compared to the fee the customer is charged. I also continued to work on FATCA work with the accounting team and discuss next steps for preparing the report. I also drafted a document to give feedback to the business intelligence team about what problems […]
