Week 5 in Sydney

This week I began my second block of classes which includes Business Law and Individual Federal Income Tax. Business Law seems interesting and has focused on using past court cases to demonstrate the lesson we are discussing. The class is mostly based on discussion and gets all of the students involved in the lesson. Income Tax has been fun to learn about as well, and I think this class will prove extremely useful for saving money throughout a lifetime of taxpaying. This week I took the ferry back to Watson’s Bay with some friends. We explored the cliffs along the […]

Week 4 in Sydney

This week marked the final week of the first block of classes. I had an individual presentation and a 1500 word final reflection for my Australian life and culture class as well as a 2500 word group report and a final exam for my financial decision modeling class. All assignments went well resulting in good grades in both classes. Aside from this, I prepared for my first day of next week’s first class, business law. This class seems to involve a lot of reading but no other assignments. I am excited for the first day of class to see what […]

Week 3 in Sydney

This week in classes, we learned about policies that gave rights to the LGBTQ community as well as immigrants from other countries. The efforts to create a version of Australia that was welcoming and presented equal opportunities to these people greatly helped shape the diverse version of the country that I’ve gotten to experience throughout my time here. Along with this, we also learned about sensitivity analysis and its real world application. I gave my individual data presentation which analyzed music data, and demonstrated how the raw data set could be organized and interpreted to provide insight and business opportunity […]

In ANOP 302 we practiced using solver in excel to optimize efficiency for various scenarios of business operations. I also learned to use pivot tables to analyze data which will be used in the near future for my first individual report about a given set of data. In my Australian culture class I learned about the Great Australian Dream compared to the Great American Dream and discussed how the reality of these ideal […]

Week 1 In Sydney

The beginning of this week marked the start of a once in a lifetime opportunity to explore and study in the beautiful city of Sydney. Upon arriving, we were greeted with a welcome dinner as well as a tour of Sydney’s botanical gardens where we had a great view of the world famous Sydney Opera House. The class structure is much different to make time for our future internship during the second half of the semester, so the first eight weeks have been broken up into groups of two accelerated classes, each four weeks long. This week, we began our […]
