Week 1 in Singapore

This week was our first week in Singapore. We had a very quick turnaround from arriving here on Sunday and then starting work the next day. However, I wasn’t able to start working until around 1pm because of my Ministry of Manpower appointment. I have already learned so much in my first week working at Kaizenvest. The firm invests in education companies throughout Southeast Asia, which I have found to be very interesting. I have already been able to work on many different projects, such as financial models. On Saturday, we had the opportunity to visit Sentosa Island. There were […]

Spring Break

What a week! This past week we had the opportunity to travel to Cairns for Spring Break. This was the perfect week with both time for relaxation by the beach and awesome adventures! We stayed at a hostel called Gilligan’s, which proved to be a very interesting experience. There were travelers from all over the world that I got to meet. Although we had a room at Gilligan’s, my friends and I got an AirBnB for a few days as well, which was a great time. Throughout the week, we got to go to many different cool places, like Fitzroy […]

Week 8 Reflection

Wow, I can’t believe I have been in Sydney for 2 months. Time flies! Since I was just finishing up Business Law and Federal Income Tax, my last week was filled with lots of school work and final exams! However, I was still able to have some downtime to visit the beach and explore Sydney for the last time. I greatly enjoyed both Business Law and Federal Income Tax. I had never taken a law class, so it was very interesting to see the intersection of my finance background with the new subject of law. My favorite part of the […]

Week 7 Reflection

This week I had the opportunity to travel away from Sydney for a weekend. At first, I was reluctant to travel this weekend, since it is one of my last weekends in Sydney. However, I decided to go on the trip since it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. My friends and I wanted to have a more relaxed weekend, so we rented an Airbnb in Port Stephens. We woke up early on Friday morning and took an Uber to Central Station, where we then got on a train for three hours. We ended up in a small town […]

Week 6 Reflection

This week in Sydney I was able to explore different beaches that I had not been to before. I went to both Coogee Beach and Watson’s Bay. The ferry to Coogee beach had some incredible views. The beach was beautiful, but unfortunately the weather was not great and it started to rain shortly after we got there. However, my friends and I explored different restaurants in Coogee and ended up having a great lunch. The next beach we went to was Watson’s Bay. Before this, Bondi beach was by far my favorite. However, Watson’s Bay quickly became my favorite beach […]

Week 5 Reflection

This week, I started a whole new block of classes. As I said last week, I cannot believe that I’ve already been in Sydney for over a month. While I greatly enjoyed my first block of classes, I am very excited about learning more about Federal Income Tax and Business Law. The first block of Aussie Life and Culture and Financial Decision Modeling were interesting, but these two new classes are more relevant to my major. So far, I am greatly enjoying Business Law. I have always been interested in law, but have not had the opportunity to study it […]
