Nicole Salantay- Sydney Week 5

Tuesday morning, Michelle and I decided to go see the sunrise on Bondi again. Every time we go it is an entirely new experience because no sunrise is ever identical. We got so blessed because just as the sun began to peak out from the horizon there was a pack of dolphins that passed right in front of us. I couldn’t believe that we got so lucky and it was a great start to the week. After that, we went down to the water, grabbed a little snack, and then went to swim. Michelle had class at 12 that day […]

Nicole Salantay- Sydney Week 4

This week marked our last week in the first block of the semester. Over the course of these 4 weeks, I took Operations Management and Australian Life and Culture. I really enjoyed both of these courses and it was very unique to learn from professors at different institutions. I learned a great deal about the history of Australia and about their current state of social affairs. Throughout the course, we identified many similarities between the social and economic aspects of the US and Australia. We took our final exams, wrote our essays due on Saturday, and then we’re able to […]

Nicole Salantay- Sydney Week 3

Monday morning, we decided to walk on the cliff side to see the sunrise on Bondi Beach. We had to depart our hotel at 5 am to take public transport and to make it to the beach before 6:13 am. It was very interesting to see the city in the early morning without the hundreds of people who walk the streets during the day. Once we got to the beach, we saw so many running clubs and people doing yoga. It was so peaceful and it was a good reminder to stay grounded. We sat up by the rocks and […]

Nicole Salantay- Sydney Week 2

To start off the week, after class a big group of us decided to go to Bondi for sunset. We got there just in time to catch some sun and to swim before it got dark. The sun set right over the hotels to the south of the beach and the views were breathtaking. Even if the weather is cloudy in the city, its worth it to go to the beach because the skies always clear up by the end of the day. The weather this week was super muggy and hot; apparently NSW is experiencing a heat wave. I […]

Nicole Salantay- Sydney Week 1

Sydney is more beautiful than I could have ever imagined! When we first arrived after a grueling 22 hour flight, we hopped straight on a bus to see the city. Our first stop was the botanical gardens where we got our first view of the famous landmark the Sydney Opera House. In this moment, I realized I was finally here and I would be calling this city home for the next 2 months. After visiting the gardens, we took a walk to the UTS campus. The change of pace from studying in small town Lewisburg to a university in a […]
