Nicole Salantay- Singapore Week 2

To start off week 2 in Singapore, we decided to go to the Gardens by the Bay light show. I have heard so many amazing things about it and I was excited to finally be able to see it for myself. I was surprised that they played opera music and that the trees changed lighting to the beat. After the show, we grabbed dinner at the Satay by the Bay Hawker Center and then walked over to the Marina Bay Sands. We went to Ce La Vi at the top of the building and the view was stunning. We could […]

Nicole Salantay- Singapore Week 1

We arrived in Singapore late Saturday night and went straight to our accommodations. We were able to settle into to the city the entire day on Sunday and we mostly shopped for last minute work attire. Right off the bat, Singapore was very different from Sydney and home in the United States. The city is relatively small with such a large population and I was shocked about how crowded the streets were especially on a weekend. That night Michelle, John, and I went to the China Town Hawker Center and got some delicious Thai food. I really enjoy Asian cuisine […]

Nicole Salantay- Carins Spring Break (week 9)

After a sad goodbye to Sydney, we were off to enjoy a week of sun in Carins! Our first excursion was to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef. Although the boat ride there was bumpy, our final destination unveiled a diverse range of marine life. There were so many colorful coral reefs and fish right beneath us! I had never been snorkeling before so the Great Barrier Reef was a very cool place to begin. I got to see a reef shark, stingrays, and even a jellyfish. Fitzroy Island was one of the prettiest places I have ever seen. The […]

Nicole Salantay- Sydney week 8

I wanted to make the most of this last week so I decided to try and go to as many beaches as possible. Tuesday after class I ran to catch the bus to Bronte. I actually tried to go to Bronte twice before but I always ended up on the wrong bus that took me to Bondi. Bronte was incredible to see because of all of the surfers tearing up all the huge waves. The lifeguards didn’t allow us to swim in the water because the current was just so strong. I was in awe of all of the talented […]

Nicole Salantay- Sydney week 7

Monday morning I was on my way to Bondi Beach, only one stop from the Junction, when I jokingly checked StubHub to see if there would be any last minute tickets to see Taylor Swift on her last night in Sydney. To my surprise there was a handful of tickets and we booked them immediately. I couldn’t believe my luck and I was so grateful that we were going to the concert. I saw her perform in New York in May of last year and it was an unforgettable memory. Michelle, Nicole, and I asked Josiah to come with us […]

Nicole Salantay- Sydney week 6

Almost everyday in Sydney is a beach day. There are so many different beaches and coves to explore all along the coast line and its very exciting to explore them all. This beach is on Watson Bay and it was absolutely stunning. We could see the entire Sydney skyline from the cliffs and it was really unique to get that view from the other side. They had this little kiosk there that had many different kinds of snacks and smoothies. With the weeks quickly counting down, I know that the beaches are what i’m going to miss about Australia the […]
