Settling into Singapore

Honestly, Singapore is much different than I expected it to be. In such a high-tech country, I have had a hard time navigating the city. I find myself lost a lot, especially in the huge malls and underground walkways. I have started leaving a bit earlier than I normally would to account for the high probability that I will either get turned around or that transportation delays may occur.  With that being said, I have had little trouble navigating my office at Economist Impact. Since my supervisor has been away for business, I have had meetings every day to get […]

Spring Break in Cairns

After a short flight, we landed in Cairns. My friends and I explored the area around our accommodation before the group dinner. With our stomachs full of yummy food, we did some more exploring. We walked around the night market and did a bit of shopping before heading back to learn more about our accommodation.  The next day, we woke up early to go snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef. The boat ride there was horrendous. The waves were massive, and almost everyone on the boat was sea sick because of them, myself included. Some of the workers on the […]

Saying Goodbye to Sydney

Somehow, the last week in Sydney has come and gone. I spent my time packing and finishing up my classes. I tried to explore the last bits before leaving, but I found myself very strapped for time. It was, honestly, a very overwhelming week. Between all of the things I had to complete and the realization that the semester was halfway over, it was hectic.  I was, luckily, able to see an orchestra concert at the Sydney Opera House with some of my roommates. It was such a beautiful space, and the concert was amazing. Unfortunately, there are restrictions on […]

Finishing Aussie Bucket List pt.2

As I said last week, I am trying to make the most of these last couple weeks. I have been focusing on getting outside and exploring some places that are a bit further away. This means I’ve spent a good chunk of time either on the train or in a car! One of the things I have been trying to make time to see are the Figure 8 pools at the Royal National Park. After about an hour and a half on the train, my friends and I made it to Otford Station. The pools were supposed to be about […]

Finishing My Aussie Bucket List

As our time in Sydney begins to wind down, I have been putting more of an emphasis on myself to see and do the things I’ve wanted to while here. This means I’ve spent a lot of time outside in nature in the last week! I began the week watching a movie outdoors, with amazing views of the Sydney Opera House and the harbor. The movie began at 8pm, so I arrived about a half hour early and was able to catch some of the sunset! I was a bit worried that the event would be canceled due to the […]

Out and About in Aussie

I spent the week admiring some amazing views! To begin with, I wanted to do some more exploring on my own. This led me to the Royal Botanical Garden. While I did end up getting lost amongst the beautiful flowers and foliage, I met a very courageous duck that came up to me and a giant lizard creature that blocked my path! Over the weekend, all of the Bucknell students spent Saturday at Hunter Valley, an area dedicated to wineries and vineyards. We not only got to see how the wine is made but we were able to taste the […]
