This weekend my friends and I had the luxury of going to Phuket Thailand. Thailand was one of the most incredible places I have ever been. Little Tuk Tuks (essentially small trucks that have speakers and LED lights in them) can take you anywhere. The weather was scorching hot and sunny every day we were there. We wanted to take advantage of our short time there so we planned an activity for every single day. On day 1 we went ATVing and walked around the Big Buddha which was awesome. The ATVing was a little underwhelming as we traveled mostly […]
This week we took a cooking class an hour away from our hotel. We made noodles with a spicy sauce which was really tasty. It was really cool learning how to cut different vegetables and cook them together. The whole process took roughly an hour and half but it was well worth it. My partner and I tried our food after and loved it so much we had to go back for seconds. On Thursday, the other interns and I were able to play golf with one of the founders of GreenFi. I was told told to stay away from […]
This week my friends and I played tennis at our hotel. None of us are insanely good so it’s really fun to play king of the court. It is also sunny and over 85 degrees out so we can’t play long. After playing tennis we jumped in the pool which was really refreshing. After swimming I unfortunately fell through a pool tile and had to get an ambulance to the nearest hospital. I had to stay over night and got surgery really late the next day. It definitely thwarted my plans to go to Bintan but I am grateful to […]
This week my friends and I went to a Hawker center called Newton. Newton is only one train stop away from our place, taking a grand total of 8 minutes to get to. Newton is one of the most popular hawker centers in all of Singapore because it was where they filmed a scene in Crazy Rich Asians. The food was really good but was definitely pricier due to its high status and popularity. I tried the Michelin rated chicken wings which were delicious as well the Michelin rated sweet and sour chicken which was also really good. This week […]
This week we had our second meeting in person after finishing off last week virtually. We met at the 1880 meeting space downtown and were given a project to complete for the next week virtually. After work, my friends and I went to our first hawker center, Maxwell. I was blown away by how much food you could get for $10 Singaporean dollars ≈ $7.00 USD. I got a side of 12 dumplings and a serving of fried rice with a chicken cutlet over it. The food was delicious and there were so many different stands serving different foods. After […]
