Josiah Kwok – Singapore Week 1

We arrived in the early morning hours of Sunday March 17 to our accommodation. At 9 am, we had an orientation with the GAV Singapore team and learned about important things about Singaporean culture, like chope-ing (placing personal items on tables before grabbing food to reserve a seat at food courts and hawker centers). We then had a group lunch at a pasta place. On Monday, I began work. I went to the office at 9 am to go do some onboarding work. In the afternoon, I went to the Ministry of Manpower for my Working Holiday Pass appointment. The […]

Josiah Kwok – Carins Spring Break

Bucknell had organized a group Spring Break in Cairns, which was very fun. We were there from 3/9 to 3/16. Afterwards we headed to Singapore. While in Cairns, I had the opportunity to visit the Great Barrier Reef, the Atherton Tablelands, Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures, Fitzroy Island, and the Cairns Aquarium. We departed early in the morning on 3/9 and arrived in the afternoon. We spent the afternoon settling down at our accommodation. The next day, we woke up early to go to the Great Barrier Reef. The swells were so rough today that most people got sea sick and were […]

Josiah Kwok – Sydney Week 8

On my final week in Sydney, I started by returning to Manly on Sunday to visit Shelly Beach. I took two ferries to Manly Wharf from Darling Harbour and then walked to Shelly Beach. The beach had very coarse sand and was filled with shells, hence its name. After the beach, we went to Manly Wharf and had dinner while watching the sunset. I had fish and chips and it was a decent meal. Afterwards, we took the ferry back to Circular Quay and took the light rail from Circular Quay back to our accommodation. It was a beautiful way […]

Josiah Kwok – Sydney Week 7

This week, I started off the week with an amazing opportunity to attend the Taylor Swift concert on Taylor’s last night in Sydney with the Nicoles and Michelle. It was truly an incredible experience and getting to watch her live is unforgettable. I really love getting to experience all her Eras that I missed because I did not attend the concerts or because I was a toddler who did not even know who she was back in the 2000s. On Friday, I had nothing in mind and knowing that my time in Sydney is ending. So, I decided to go […]

Josiah Kwok – Week 6 Blog

I started off the week by going to a boat party around Sydney harbor. The views were stunning and we got to see all angles of the Sydney bridge, the Opera House, and the skyline. There, I came across Grace, Ais, Jocelyn, and Lexie. I met so many cool students studying in Sydney from around the world. I had a great time… until I got sick on Tuesday On Tuesday, we went to trivia with our Business Law professor Vicki Beyer. Since there were many of us, we split into two teams. But since I still have not finished my […]

Josiah Kwok – Week 5

On Saturday, we had the special opportunity to visit two Hunter Valley wineries (special thanks to Mr. Kiken!). We got down to the lobby at 8:15 am to get to Hunter Valley. Hunter Valley was a three-hour bus ride up to just west of Newcastle in NSW. There, we visited Brokenwood and Scarborough. At Brokenwood, we were first welcomed with a glass of white wine. We then got to see the removal of grape skins and the end of the fermentation process in a tour led by Senior Winemaker Stuart Hordern. Afterward, we had a group lunch consisting of fresh […]
