Singapore Week 1

Going to Singapore was a weird feeling. I was very sad to say goodbye to my girlfriend and Australia, but also ready to explore a new country. Singapore is much different than Australia with massive culture change. One of the main things I knew going into Singapore was its strict laws – hopefully I can stay out of trouble. We arrived into Singapore late at night and went straight to bed at the apartments we were provided by this program. The next morning we had a brief orientation followed by a group lunch. The rest of the day we had […]

Week 8 – Cairns

Classes have officially ended and finals seem to have gone well. It is nice to be done with classes as I will not be taking any for the next few months. For this trip, we get to go to Cairns for spring break. This was really exciting for me as my girlfriend from Bucknell is coming to visit me. The school put all of us at Gilligan’s hostel, but my girlfriend and I decided to get an Airbnb with my other friend who’s girlfriend was also visiting. Landing in Cairns, it was immediately apparent this would be a lot different […]

Week Seven

Time has almost wound down on my stay in Sydney. I am starting to prepare for my final exams in my Business law and Federal Income Tax classes. These classes have been a blast and have felt much more entertaining than my usual classes at Bucknell. The professors really try their bests to make it fun and provide a positive learning environment. In Federal Income Tax we have had the privilege of having Bucknell alumni come in to talk to the class about their profession and what brought them to Australia. This gave me a great insight on the life […]

Week Six Blog

Time in Australia is flying by and I hardly notice. I feel like the reality of leaving Australia is starting to hit as me and my friends try and branch out of comfort zone visiting places. Classes have been going well and have kept me entertained. I specifically like my Federal Income Tax class as it provides real-life examples on how to improve my tax situation and potentially save me some money in the future. Business law has also been useful in the event I want to form my own company some day. Outside of the classroom, I had the […]

Week Five Blog

With the finals in week four behind me, week five began with a new set of classes. The classes I would be taking this semester would be Business Law and Federal Income Tax. Monday, the first day of class, happened to fall on Super Bowl Sunday in the United States so me and my friends all gathered to watch the game at a local establishment before heading off to class. I was very interested to take both of these classes and I feel like I have always had a passion for law and taxes. As the week went on, I […]

Week Four Blog

My fourth week in Australia brought much more time to explore the city. This was the final week of our four-week long semester so we had a few finals to complete. For my Financial Modeling class, I had to complete a group write up on a company and then do an in-person excel test – not too difficult. For my Australian Culture class we simply had to write a research paper on an Australian topic of our choice. I chose to write about how the middle-class in Australia is becoming smaller and smaller due to economic struggles. Overall, my classes […]
