Grace Kim – Week 10

Once again, there were many yummy foods consumed this week. I tried some drinks that were recommended to me, like the bandung which tasted like cereal milk. Got many bobas and this blueberry drink with lots of whole lychee in it! To balance the drinks– the food! I tried more hawker centers this week, and the highlight of the food I tried was popiah! It looks almost like a spring roll, but has a crepe-like wrap and is filled with veggies and this crunchy peanut topping. The sweet chili sauce that was paired with it was delicious and I would […]

Grace Kim – Week 9

Our first full week in Singapore is complete! With the start of the internship and exploring this new, unfamiliar city, the time has gone by so fast. One of the main highlights of the week has been our team lunches. A couple of times this week, our team went out for lunch together! There has been a diverse range in cuisines, from Japanese to traditional Chinese, and delicious desserts in between. Outside of these team lunches, I was able to explore many of the hawker centers in the area and try out new dishes that are amazingly delicious, and priced […]

Grace Kim – Week 8

The final week in Sydney, time really did go by fast! This week was spent by eating lots of yummy foods that had been on my list for the longest time. I got to take a surfing lesson on Manly Beach before class one day! It was a fun experience and I’m so glad to have been able to do it. Surfing was difficult, but it was a super memorable experience and I would definitely take another lesson and try to get good at it. The feeling of being in the water and riding a wave was so nice and […]

Grace Kim – Week 7

This past week consisted of lots of reconnecting with nature! We went to the Figure 8 pool in the Royal National Park. It was so beautiful and the view on the way was breathtaking with the hike through the woods and the beach as well as the layer of rocks we had to climb through. The hike itself was one of the hardest ones I have ever done before, but the end result of being able to see and swim in the pool made it worth the trek. I also tried my first pie! There was beef brisket with mushrooms […]

Grace Kim – Week 6

This week was a fun week of activities! Jocelyn and I went on the Bondi to Coogee walk, which was absolutely beautiful! We got to walk by so many of the popular beaches as well as the more hidden ones. We went early in the morning, so the weather was perfect for a hike and it was nice to see the world kind of wake up. It was a very nice way to start the day before class. I also went to three new beaches: Camp Cove, Shelly Beach, and Freshwater Beach! The views were stunning as always and the […]

Grace Kim – Week 5

The beach highlight of this week was Gordon’s Bay! It is a small beach hidden away between Clovelly and Coogee Beach. The water was absolutely beautiful and many visitors were snorkeling in the water! The waves were nice to swim in and the walk to and from was amazing. I also ventured to the Art Gallery of New South Wales, which is right by the Royal Botanical Garden. This was a location that was on my bucket list from the very beginning, and I am very glad to have gone! They had a range of art on display from sculptures […]
