Phuket, Thailand, promises a weekend of blissful escapades amidst its stunning beaches, from the tranquility of Surin to the laid-back vibes of Kamala and the adventurous spirit of Kuta. My journey unfolded with each step, leading me from one idyllic shore to the next, but it was at Kata Beach where the waves would humble me. Venturing to Kata Beach with eager anticipation, I soon found myself face to face with the relentless power of the ocean. As I attempted to conquer the waves with my surfboard, each tumble into the water served as a humbling reminder of my novice […]
Kuta, Bali, is more than just a destination; it’s a surfer’s haven. With its vibrant atmosphere and stunning beaches, it beckons enthusiasts from all corners of the globe. For me, a weekend getaway here was nothing short of exhilarating. From the moment I set foot on the warm sand, I knew I was in for an adventure. Over two days, I surfed to my heart’s content, riding wave after wave of adrenaline. Kuta’s consistent swells and favorable conditions made it a perfect playground for surfers of all levels. But it wasn’t just about the sport; it was about immersing myself […]
Spring Break This past week was an interesting one! We went on a trip to Cairns in northern Australia where we were able to check out the great barrier reef. Although the snorkeling trip was out of this world, the rest of the trip was very questionable. We arrived in Cairns missing one person, after having celebrated our departure from Sydney at the Pyrmont bridge Hotel (the 24/7 bar). Two people from our group decided it was a good idea to pull an all-nighter at the bar which inevitably resulted in Ethan missing his flight and having to meet us […]
Surfing Accident This was my final week in Sydney! This last week was a final attempt to replicate all of the fantastic things from earlier in the semester while also trying a few new things. Unfortunately, not every activity went well! Specifically, trying to learn to surf failed miserably. Growing up, I was a competitive swimmer, so I never worried about drowning because I was always quite adept in the water. However, this week at Manly Beach, I had my own near-death experience. On Tuesday of this week, I decided to try to learn how to surf again by renting […]
Port Stephens While in Sydney we had the opportunity to meet other Americans, primarily from California, who were also studying abroad. After spending countless days going to various beaches and bars with them, we decided to plan a trip up the coast to a 7 mile long beach. I booked an AirBnB in Port Stephens Australia in the most stunning location ever. The place we stayed was a 5 minute walk to what seemed like endless sand dunes and a beach that stretched on forever. While swimming one day I had an out of body experience to share a wave […]
