Nicole Salantay- Singapore Week 5

This weekend, we visited Bali! It was very surreal to visit such a popular destination that is across the world from home. Our flights were moved by the airline so our time in Bali got cut short but we had the entire day Saturday to explore. We hired a private driver for the day who took us around to see a combinations of temples and beaches. We started off the day at the Tanah Lot Temple. It was a Hindu Temple right on/ in the water depending on the tide. When we arrived, the tide was high and there were people trapped on the steps of the temple so they had to wait for low tide before coming back on to the mainland. There were really beautiful views and it was interesting to see how different religions practice their faith. Next, we asked our driver to take us to the most beautiful beach in his opinion. He drove us to Melasti Beach that had crystal clear water. It was really amazing and we stayed there for a couple of hours enjoying the water and the pool.

After the beach, we decided that we still wanted to see at least 1 more temple with the time we had left so we went to the Uluwatu Temple. Here, we got to see breathtaking views from the top of the temple and monkeys. The monkeys were very aggressive towards people and they liked to steal peoples’ glasses and hats. Some lady got her sunglasses stolen and we were able to see how the local people threw him two eggs so he would drop them. One of the monkeys was up in a tree and when I tried to take a picture of him he came down and showed me his teeth. I found out the hard way that the monkey’s did not like to be stared at. The cliff side was very pretty and it was an amazing sight to see. I was really thankful that we had such a great day of adventure!
