This week, I have been doing a lot of research on food sustainability and security in Asia. Within the next couple of months, there will be multiple conferences and events in surrounding countries pertaining to such topics. My supervisor, as a face of the Economist Group, is looking to branch out the types of sponsors and networks available for the company. Part of my job is to find the most relevant place to share some of the data and information curated by Economist Impact. It’s a big task but definitely interesting, as I am learning about some of the most pressing issues in the world and which companies and foundations are trying to solve them!
On Wednesday, I had off from work for the public holiday. My friends and I spent the day at the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest by the Gardens by the Bay. It was very busy and a bit overwhelming with the number of people there. Still, the flowers and greenery were gorgeous! Afterwards, we went to the movies and saw Civil War. The experience was a bit different than what I am used to at home, as the snack selection was very limited and the seats did not recline. The movie was very action-packed and entertaining, though!

On Friday night, we ventured to the Night Safari. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it was really dark and hard to see some interactions between the animals. My favorite part was watching a little girl feed a rhino! I cannot remember if I have ever seen a rhino up close before, but I will definitely remember what they look like now!

Saturday was very hot, so my friends and I went to Sentosa Island. We walked around for a bit to get food and drinks and then went to HydroDash, a wipe-out-like obstacle course on the water. There were a lot of kids, but I still jumped around and swam through the course. My body was sore afterwards, as the course was much more intense than it appeared!
On Sunday, we took a bus and train to JB, Malaysia. We shopped a bit and then got some food before getting our nails done. The city was not my favorite, as I couldn’t find much to do other than shop. Our process through immigration was quite quick, however, which makes me more inclined to visit again and see if my impression has changed.
This is going to be my last full weekend in Singapore, as I have trips coming up. I am very excited to experience a change of pace and step away from Singapore. I find that I am running out of things to do, so traveling is hopefully going to re-energize me!
