Josiah Kwok – Singapore Week 2 (Bintan!)

On our second weekend in Singapore, we had the opportunity to spend the weekend at the Bintan Resorts (which is actually in Indonesia). Bintan was an hour ferry ride from Singapore and popular for Singaporeans to go to on a long weekend. We stayed at the Nirwana Gardens Resort Hotel. The property featured multiple accommodations and different clusters of buildings featuring different activities. At our accommodation, we had a large pool to welcome us that came with a bar built into the pool.

On my first day, I went to the gift shop and bought myself a t-shirt and necklace. Afterwards, I went to the spa for a 90 minute hot “Sacred Stones” massage. The massage gave me a good burn and was very rejuvenating. To get to the Anindya Spa, I had to take a hotel shuttle that went on a loop every thirty minutes much like the Bucknell campus shuttle.

On my second day, I had breakfast in the morning and spent much of the day relaxing under a cabana along the beautiful beach. However, it started to rain around 2 pm and I returned to my room. After the rain subsided, I went back to the beach for a walk under the golden hour sun. At 5 pm, I went to the Calypso Floating Bar next to the Kelong Seafood Restaurant for a group dinner.

On my last day, I started off with a full breakfast to skip lunch. I then played giant chess with Manolo (I suck and Manolo is really good at it). Afterwards, I went to the beach to relax before returning to the room to pack. At around 12 pm, I checked out and relaxed at the pool sipping coconut water from a coconut. Afterward, we took a shuttle bus to the ferry terminal for the ferry ride back to Singapore.
