Josiah Kwok – Sydney Week 8

On my final week in Sydney, I started by returning to Manly on Sunday to visit Shelly Beach. I took two ferries to Manly Wharf from Darling Harbour and then walked to Shelly Beach. The beach had very coarse sand and was filled with shells, hence its name. After the beach, we went to Manly Wharf and had dinner while watching the sunset. I had fish and chips and it was a decent meal. Afterwards, we took the ferry back to Circular Quay and took the light rail from Circular Quay back to our accommodation. It was a beautiful way to conclude my last Sunday in Sydney.

During the week, I attended mid-day Eucharist at St. James Anglican Church, the oldest consecrated church in Sydney. The building was designed by a convict architect and the worship service was beautiful. It was a befitting way to end my time in Sydney focusing on gratitude for having the opportunity to study abroad in Sydney. In addition, I also observed Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral nearby St. James. It was a very stunning gothic building, much in character with the many historic buildings in Sydney.

Other than that, we had final exams for my Individual Federal Income Tax and Business Law classes. So, I spent much of my other time studying and doing a bit of packing for Cairns. Needless to say, I believe I had a very fulfilling time in Sydney and am incredibly thankful to Bucknell for offering this amazing opportunity. I only now wish stay longer, and now a part of me yearns to return to Sydney one day (maybe for work).
