This week I began my second block of classes which includes Business Law and Individual Federal Income Tax. Business Law seems interesting and has focused on using past court cases to demonstrate the lesson we are discussing. The class is mostly based on discussion and gets all of the students involved in the lesson. Income Tax has been fun to learn about as well, and I think this class will prove extremely useful for saving money throughout a lifetime of taxpaying.
This week I took the ferry back to Watson’s Bay with some friends. We explored the cliffs along the walking path around the beaches and visited a beach club/ restaurant right next to the beach we were at. I enjoyed a chicken sandwich and some drinks before spending the remainder of the day laying on the beach.

On Friday, the tax class was given the opportunity to meet and speak with Bucknell alumni Tony Massaro, who is a partner at a real estate investment firm here in Sydney. He was able to provide us with information relating to how he’s leveraged his experience at Bucknell and the rest of his professional experiences to put himself in the successful position he is in today. Tony also spoke a lot about what he currently does as a real estate investor today, how he reacts to changes in real estate markets, and how he operates as an investor in Australia compared to how one would in the United States. After the talk, we went to The Squire’s Landing for a group lunch before heading back to our apartments. I really enjoyed the talk we had with Tony Massaro and am very grateful for the opportunity.
Over this past weekend, myself and the rest of the students from Bucknell visited two wineries. We learned about the processes that go into making the wine as well as business aspects of the wineries. The guides provided valuable insight regarding the distribution and production costs of their wine, and explained why they choose to distribute and produce their products the way they do. We were able to taste a large assortment of each place’s wines and were also provided with an exceptional lunch at the first winery. Pictures of the meal and production of the wine are seen below.
