I had a great week this week. I cannot believe my first block of classes is already over. Time is flying by here. I had a great weekend last week when I had the opportunity to explore Melbourne. While I love Sydney, it was great to see another Australian city. After being to both cities, it seems like Sydney is more like my home town of Los Angeles, while Melbourne is more like New York. Therefore, it isn’t surprising that I liked Sydney more than Melbourne!
In class this past week, I enjoyed learning about climate change in Australia. I remember watching the terrible fires in Australia on the news in 2019 and 2020. It is clear that climate change is becoming one of the biggest problems not only in Australia, but globally. I had the opportunity to research climate change further in my Australian Life and Culture final essay. While the future seems uncertain, it was comforting to learn about the various initiatives that the Australian government along with the rest of the world are taking to combat climate change.
Overall, I had a great first month in Sydney, and I can’t wait for the next month!
