James Hudson Week 2 Blog Post

This past week my friends and I ventured out to Manly Beach. We had to take a train and then a ferry but the journey was well worth it. The ferry ride was beautiful, as it passed right by the Sydney Opera House on a beautiful sunny day. Manly Beach was connected to a beautiful town but was definitely more crowded than Bondi Beach. A couple of my buddies decided to surf and the rest of us watched them from the shore. Overall it was an awesome day and it was well worth the hour trek.

The highlight of my week was meeting the Brisbane Heat cricket team who had just won their championship game. A couple of my friends and I were getting some late-night food at our local pub when we noticed something familiar. Earlier that day we watched the first 20 minutes of the championship game between the Sydney Sixers and the Brisbane Heat. The coincidence was crazy that the guys that we were watching on television were partying with their trophy at our local pub. We took photos with them and they even let us hold their trophy!

For our last excursion of the week, two friends and I decided to venture to the figure eight pools. The journey started with an hour train ride to an almost abandoned train station at the base of a large forest. From there, there was a small hole in the fence that led to a pathway where we hiked 5.5 miles around the forest that led to a cliff above a beach. It then took another 2 miles to get down to the beach and travel across the rocks to the figure-eight pools. The pools were natural holes in the rocks that were filled with water by the changing tides. The views were spectacular and it was unlike anything I’d ever experienced.
