Singapore Week 3 – James Hudson

This week my friends and I went to a Hawker center called Newton. Newton is only one train stop away from our place, taking a grand total of 8 minutes to get to. Newton is one of the most popular hawker centers in all of Singapore because it was where they filmed a scene in Crazy Rich Asians. The food was really good but was definitely pricier due to its high status and popularity. I tried the Michelin rated chicken wings which were delicious as well the Michelin rated sweet and sour chicken which was also really good.

This week we also had a GAV catch-up dinner in Little India in Singapore. It was actaully crazy how different the Architecture was there compared to the greater Singapore area. I am not the biggest Indian food fan but the buttered chicken and buttered garlic naan was delicous. We talked about what we’ve all been doing in our internships and talked about the best spots to visit while we are in Singapore. This is where one of the girls gave my friends and I the idea to travel to Bali and Phuket which we booked after dinner for the last two weeks of our trip.

Later that weekend we went to Sentosa Island by taking a guandala. Once there my friends and I split up as only half of us wanted to go to the beach. I wanted to go to the beach and after a brief train ride we arrived. The water was really warm and the views were spectacular. There were rope bridges to that connected to different small islands that looked out onto the open ocean. There was also a “Hydrodash” park with inflateable rides on the water that my friends and I did. A day on the inflatable, Hydrodash water park was one of the most fun days I had abroad so far.
