For my third week in Singapore, I was invited by my boss to our employer’s personal finance event, which was really cool. While I was not there for long, I really enjoyed learning about investment strategies and personal finance. It is especially important for me, since I hope to have a career in wealth management.

Afterwards, I went to Ce La Vi. It was at the top of the Marina Bay Sands next to the famous infinity pool. The pool is restricted to guests only. Ce La Vi itself had multiple rooms including the restaurant, the bar, and a lounge. The lounge was mostly empty and had great views of the central business district and the famous pool itself.

On Sunday, Dr. Alexander brought us to the National Orchid Garden for a tour and lunch. It was really beautiful and I learned about the naming of who Singapore predicts to be upcoming world leaders. The pictures speak for themselves. After the tour, we had lunch at the Halia restaurants, “Halia” meaning ginger in Malay. Fun fact: bananas are from the ginger family!

Afterward, I thought about going to the other garden, the Gardens by the Bay. And naturally, that led me to remember the Crazy Rich Asians movie and that I had to hit all the filming locations in Singapore. That afternoon, I went to Ann Siang Hill. At Ann Siang Hill, I found the exact spot where Michelle Yeoh walked on her way to the mahjong parlor (which the interior was actually filmed in Malaysia). I then walked to the Humpback restaurant in Chinatown for a little happy hour, the restaurant where Constance Wu and Awkwafina;s characters had their deep conversations. The street the restaurant was on featured the Peranakan-style homes that were in the backdrop of the various scenes in the movie.

I ended off the night by going to the Gardens by the Bay for the 8:45 pm Garden Rhapsody light show. I quickly got there around 8:15 pm to save myself a good spot as the 7:45 pm show crowd were leaving. The theme of the night was “retro” and I thought the show was really stunning with the lights choreographed to my favorite oldies artists like ABBA.
