This past weekend we all went to Bintan to kick back and relax, unfortunately, the sun got the better of some of us. Bintan was a stunning picturesque location. The only issue was the ocean. Because of Singapore’s vast seaport, the waterways off the coast of Indonesia have the highest concentration of oil slicks and other pollutants. This produces tar in the water. The tar does not appear to be particularly dangerous and is frequently difficult to detect, but you can be certain it is present. Little black specks will stick to your skin and be exceedingly difficult to remove. The resort supplies bottles of a liquid (I am not sure what) that may be used to remove tar from your skin. Another issue this time of year is the presence of jellyfish in the sea, which makes water sports risky.

After traveling to Indonesia I’m realizing that I really want to travel more and see the rest of SouthEast Asia. However, this week my family will be in town which will be a nice refresher since I haven’t seen them in almost 4 months. While they were in town I had the opportunity to have dinner at some of the nicer places in the city as well as I saw the Gardens by the Bay light show for the first time. One of the restaurants we had dinner at was in the lobby of my building, it’s called atlas. This is the top Gin bar in Singapore and has the most amazing appetizers.
