After an amazing spring break, it was time for us to go to Singapore for the second half of our study abroad trip. It’s my first time being in a non-western country, but I wouldn’t say I’ve been hit with a massive amount of culture shock. Here’s some photos from our first day!

The same day, I took the extremely fast metro system to Chinatown. Although I came there to eat at a hawker center, I ended up eating at a very good Thai place on the street. I noticed that a lot of people seem to stare in tourists when you aren’t in tourist spaces. I honestly felt like an uncaged zoo animal, but as an actor: I’d like to say I’m used to being in the public eye.

As I left Chinatown, I laid eyes upon a beautiful Buddhist shrine. I’m genuinely proud of the photo I took here and I hope I can come back to see actual monks and maybe go inside!

The day after, I began my internship at Morningstar: a worldwide equity research firm. While I’ve only worked 5 days so far, I can confidently say I genuinely love my coworkers. Everyday they invite me to lunch in different restaurants around Singapore, which is helping me a lot in acclimating to such a different place than what I’m used to. The work so far is largely just entering in data from company financial statements into the Morningstar model, something which I assume will change as I get more used to how the company operates.
