I wanted to make the most of this last week so I decided to try and go to as many beaches as possible. Tuesday after class I ran to catch the bus to Bronte. I actually tried to go to Bronte twice before but I always ended up on the wrong bus that took me to Bondi. Bronte was incredible to see because of all of the surfers tearing up all the huge waves. The lifeguards didn’t allow us to swim in the water because the current was just so strong. I was in awe of all of the talented people not only swimming in that current with their boards but catching the waves perfectly. There was a small salt water pool right off the coast that was made for swimming in. When I got home, I figured I should spend as much time exploring the city so I went for a walk along Darling Harbor. I got some gelato and walked to the Crown to catch the sunset. At this point in the trip, I wasn’t nervous to travel around the city alone and I really enjoyed the quiet change of pace.

With time running out, I knew I had to go see one last Bondi sunrise. Even though the horizon was cloudy, the skies were a lovely light orange covered with pinky, swirly clouds. I took that time to reflect on how far we’ve all come in the past 8 weeks and how much i’ve grown. The beach is probably my favorite place because no matter what time of day you visit it is always a unique view. I am definitely not a morning person but I love going to sunrise since the sand is still cool from the night and Bondi isn’t that crowded. There are so many running clubs and people just enjoying their morning life. A different kind of calm and peace. Later that night, I had a reservation to go to the observatory in the Rocks. This observatory houses the oldest telescope in Australia and we got to look through it! I even got to open the dome to reveal the night sky and stars. I definitely didn’t get to explore enough of the museums during my stay in Sydney which is one of my biggest regrets. I will just have to come back!

To start off our last day in Sydney, Nicole, Michelle, and I saw the 5th Symphony in the concert hall at the Opera House. One experience I had to cross of the bucket list before leaving Sydney was to see a concert. I had never heard a symphony before since I never played an instrument and focused more on playing sports in high school. It was breathtaking to hear how all of the instruments worked together to create a story. These musicians were some of the best in their field and I was really blessed to hear them play for my first concert ever. For dinner, we had a reservation at Restaurant Hubert. The ambiance was very low key and there was even a jazz band playing. It happened to be International Women’s Day that Friday as well so they played many songs in honor of women. The food was some of the best i’ve ever had and it is somewhere I would recommend for people to visit at least once during their time in Sydney. These 8 weeks flew by in the blink of an eye and I got to see so many different things. I will always remember my time here and the fond memories I made with the most amazing people!
