Nicole Salantay- Sydney week 7

Monday morning I was on my way to Bondi Beach, only one stop from the Junction, when I jokingly checked StubHub to see if there would be any last minute tickets to see Taylor Swift on her last night in Sydney. To my surprise there was a handful of tickets and we booked them immediately. I couldn’t believe my luck and I was so grateful that we were going to the concert. I saw her perform in New York in May of last year and it was an unforgettable memory. Michelle, Nicole, and I asked Josiah to come with us because he is also a big fan of her music; it was such a sweet phone call when we told him we had an extra ticket. We quickly went shopping for outfits, got on the train, and made it to the concert just in time to catch the opening act. We sang and danced the night away; her concerts are always one of a kind. I really enjoyed making these memories with my roommates and Josiah and I was so thankful for the experience!

Friday afternoon, a couple of the guys and I decided to make the trip to the Blue Mountains. We realized that our time in Sydney was running out and we couldn’t leave without taking this beautiful hike. It took us about 2 hours to get there on public transportation but it was so worth it. The path down into the canyon was so steep and I was starting to question what I had gotten myself into. However, once the trial started to flatten out, I had a nice time reconnecting with nature and enjoying the fresh air. There were lots of waterfalls with wildlife such as an Australian Water Dragon. By the time we hiked back up on the other side of the canyon, it was sunset. We caught the most amazing views and even saw lightning strikes from the rolling storm in the distance. The Australian landscapes are so diverse but each are so unique and beautiful in their own ways.

Sunday’s weather was forecasted to have clear skies and high heat, perfect for a beach day! It was my first time making it out to Manly Beach and I really regret not going there sooner. The water was so clear and the waves were not as overwhelming as Bondi Beach. We ended up on Shelly Beach that had a little cove to swim in. I soaked up some Australian sun and enjoyed the warm water. After the sun started to set, we got dinner on the Marina and got to see some very stunning views of the boats parked on the water. This was our last Sunday in Sydney, the first of many lasts! I know I will really miss Sydney and all the amazing aspects the city had to offer. It was my first time out of the country for such a long time and I truly believe it became my second home.
