Josiah Kwok – Sydney Week 7

This week, I started off the week with an amazing opportunity to attend the Taylor Swift concert on Taylor’s last night in Sydney with the Nicoles and Michelle. It was truly an incredible experience and getting to watch her live is unforgettable. I really love getting to experience all her Eras that I missed because I did not attend the concerts or because I was a toddler who did not even know who she was back in the 2000s.

On Friday, I had nothing in mind and knowing that my time in Sydney is ending. So, I decided to go for a solo sunset dip at Collins Flat Beach in Manly, a hidden “locals” beach devoid of masses of tourists. The beach was serene with calm small waves and a little waterfall too! It is the best beach I have ever been to and a perfect one to take photos of the scenery, climb rocks, and swim out.

On Saturday, we got to visit the Sydney Opera House for a tour. Our group saw the concert hall, opera hall, side halls, and foyers. We learned about the architectural history of the building, which was a bit tragic. I found it most fascinating on how the roof was cut out from a sphere and the tiles being of slightly different shades to not be too blinding in the sun. Unfortunately, we could not take pictures of the Opera Hall due to sets sitting on stage and crew prepping for a show later in the afternoon.

On Sunday, I joined the Nicoles, Michelle, Manolo, and Ned in the late afternoon for at Shelly beach in Manly. The sand was quite coarse and as the sun lowered, the beach had quite a beautiful view of the sun setting behind the town of Manly.

Overall, this was the last full week in Sydney and I realized I had to make the most out of it before I have to leave. I feel quite fulfilled this week knowing I have done all that I have wanted to do during my time in Sydney.
