This week, I went to two locations I had always wanted to go to in Sydney before I left for the towering skyscrapers of Singapore! The first was camp cove, an area of beautiful cliffs accessable by ferry. My time on the ferry itself was quite enjoyable, with numerous opportunities to take some great photos of Sydney’s coast.

This small trip really gave me a stronger appreciation for the small beachs that find themselves nestled between rocky cliffs. It’s quite different in America, where most beaches stretch continously for as far as the eye can see. The more condensed beachs makes them feel a lot more private and cozy, which is a feeling that I greatly value as I sit beneath the blazing Australian sun.

On the same day when I got back home, a rainbow happened to show over the city skyline. So I’d like to take that as a symbol of good luck!

The next day I visited a location I had wanted to go to from Day 1 of my time in Sydney, especially considering I’ve always had a massive love for animals. It was the Taronga Zoo, a lovely place centered just across the river from the main part of the city. My favorite animals there were the large variety of colorful birds across the zoo’s many aviarys, a fact I largely contribute to my time growing up with my grandfather who loved birdwatching.

The Taronga zoo really goes to show how amazingly biodiverse the country of Australia really is. The zoo’s ability to support so mant different animals in such a hot climate was also interesting to see. I never thought a penguin could live in a place as hot as this, but thankfully they proved me wrong.

It continues to amaze me how I’m beginning to love this city more and more. Usually, my excitement for a place tends to wear off over time, but here it seems that the opposite is true. I always considered myself to enjoy cold climates more than hot climates, so I never would have thought that I would love this country so much.
