Jocelyn’s Melbourne Weekend

Last weekend we ventured from Sydney to Melbourne. I was very excited to see some more of Australia. With such a big country, I made the decision to focus my semester in Sydney, so as to not overwhelm myself with the many travel destination options. Melbourne was a great compromise to my rule, just a quick, less than two-hour plane ride away. While there, I was particularly struck by the scenery. Despite the long day and even longer bus ride, the tour of the Great Ocean Road was the highlight of my trip. I was able to see clear beaches, koalas, and amazing rock formations. The trip was unlike anything I had seen before. The more we drove, the prettier the scenery became, with endless beaches!

Feeling inspired from the drive, I wanted to see the sunrise the next morning. Staying up with a couple of friends, we watched the sun come up from the balcony of the building. There were even hot air balloon tours occurring in the early hours of the day!

I spent the last day of the trip with my friends at St Kilda Beach. The water was perfectly calm, and I ended up spending a huge chunk of time just floating and drifting in it. I then dried off under the sun, falling asleep. Luckily, I woke up just in time to watch the sunset!
