John Wallace Blog – Week 2

This week began with my operations management class on Monday, one which was pleasantly marked with numerous class discussions that were both interesting and enjoyable to partake in. What followed however was the beautiful Coogee beach, a beach littered with striking red rocks & cliffs.

The next few days were honestly a little bit of a blur. I went to a couple great bars and restaurants but never bothered to get any good pictures. The classes have been very fun though, with my Australian life and culture class illuminating the country’s issues. Despite the culture shock i’ve experienced, it’s wild how many of Australia’s problems are identical to those in America.

Friday was Australia Day! Although it was absurdly hot, nearly 100 degrees Farenheight, I managed to take a look at a fireworks show. Unfortanately, this blog doesn’t allow videos, so you’ll have to make do with your imagination.

If anything, this week was my “off” week. The next two weeks are going to be absolutely action packed. Next week I’m going to Melbourne with the rest of the study abroad students, and the next I’m going to Brisbane with my mother to meet longtime family friends of my late grandparents. Only recently did I hear that my Grandparents went to Australia nearly every year in their hayday to meet longtime friends. Apparently, their friendship was so strong that they each own a commeratory plaque; touting the generational friendship of the Wallace and Jones families. I can’t wait to meet them!
